Katie Worrall
Events & Communications VISTA Katie joins CWIT as an events and communications AmeriCorps VISTA, a year-long national volunteer service program. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in political science and international affairs. During her time there, she conducted several research projects focusing on issues ranging from housing and homelessness to gender inequality, some of which have been published or presented at research conferences. As student government director of legislative affairs, she led student town halls, teach-ins, and helped pass bills at the Nevada State Legislature on housing access, sexual assault prevention, and sustainability initiatives. She served as a communications intern in two congressional offices where she developed her editorial, writing, and design skills that she is excited now to utilize in her work with CWIT. After witnessing injustices within the criminal justice system against individuals in both her own family and across the nation, she hopes to increase awareness and education on the vitality of restorative justice programs and the need for harm-reduction measures. After the year of service, she hopes to go to graduate school to study conflict resolution and peace studies. Contact: katieworrall@cwitstl.org |
