GENERAL SUMMARY: Supports the housing team in the capacity of an onsite presence during evening, overnight and weekend hours. Responsible for providing a safe and secure residential environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe facility by:
- Supervising resident activities, entries, and exits.
- Monitoring video surveillance equipment.
- Walking the perimeter of the facility during shifts.
- Monitoring residents and guests on the premises.
- Conducting appropriate facility and room searches as needed in accordance with applicable guidelines.
- Reporting situations of concern to the on-call supervisor and or emergency personnel when needed.
- Monitors, secures, and logs resident medications.
- Documents incidents, violations by residents and other activity as required in accordance with applicable guidelines.
- Conducts drug and alcohol testing and record keeping as required in accordance with applicable guidelines.
- Answers the telephone in the security office.
- Documents residents’ belongings upon move-in and move out.
- Attends periodic house manager meetings and/or team meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Education: High school diploma or GED and two years of work experience, including military or self-employment, required; previous experience in security setting and experience working with offenders and/or at-risk population preferred.
- Must have good communication skills, conflict management skills, and be able to set and maintain boundaries.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to document/log information timely and accurately.
- Must be willing to work with a diverse group of people respectfully and non judgmentally.
- Must pass background check and drug testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to tolerate long periods of sitting.
- Ability to demonstrate the physical stamina to do some walking and to climb stairs; ability to do moderate pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to demonstrate good finger/hand dexterity for typing, sorting, filing, etc.
- Ability to work and under stress.
