The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for engaging the community through networking and presentations for the purpose of recruitment and retention of volunteers and community partnerships. This position reports to the Development Director and works closely with the Marketing and Communications Specialist.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)
Overarching Responsibilities:
Volunteer and community engagement outreach
- Work with leadership team to identify volunteer and community engagement needs within the agency.
- Create and implement short- and long-term strategies for recruitment and retention of volunteers and community partnerships and develop individualized communication strategies.
- Conduct outreach efforts to faith-based and civic organizations and other identified potential partners to promote Keyway volunteer and community engagement opportunities.
- Interview and screen potential volunteers to discuss the Keyway’s mission and expectations of volunteers.
- Identify opportunities and conduct community education activities.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for leadership participation on panels and conferences.
- Host and support outreach events in the community.
Volunteer screening, training, and coordination
- Match volunteer skill sets and interests with volunteer needs (e.g. administrative volunteers, one-on-one mentors, and group mentors).
- Conduct volunteer orientation for individuals and groups as well as ongoing training and support to promote sustained involvement.
- Track volunteer hours and develop reports, as needed.
- Introduce potential mentor/mentee partners and facilitate beginning of the match.
- Review monthly log sheets from mentors to assess mentor/mentee relationship. Act as main point of contact for mentors regarding any issues with mentor/mentee relationship.
- Plan, organize and attend monthly gatherings of mentors and mentees; plan and facilitate quarterly meetings for mentors.
- Facilitate processes to mediate differences between mentors and mentees.
- Facilitate regular meetings with mentor and mentee pairs to evaluate the partnerships.
- Provide ongoing support of mentors for the duration of the mentoring relationship.
- Conduct exit interviews with mentor and mentee at completion of the program.
- Participate in case management meetings as part of service team.
- Develop and implement a plan for volunteer appreciation/recognition.
Program Development and Evaluation
- Evaluate mentor program and research current trends in mentoring; develop and implement changes as needed.
- Evaluate grant funding needs for delivery of services within scope of duties; work cooperatively with the leadership team to obtain and track grant funds.
- Work with Development team on developing client success stories and external communication plans.
- Develop an ongoing plan for quality assurance.
Donor relationship
- Coordinate and distribute thank you letters for in-kind and monetary donations.
- Coordinate with Development Director in making consistent calls to thank Donors.
- Coordinate with Development team to support Donor Acknowledgement and Stewardship Plan.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of all special events, both fundraisers and “friend-raisers.”
- Work with Development team to establish Young Professionals Network.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and managing all volunteers, students, and VISTA members.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Frequent and regular internal contact with all Keyway staff to identify needs for volunteers, students, etc.
- Frequent and regular contact with external supporters including civic groups, churches, and schools.
- In depth reporting to the Development Director regarding donor relations, grant writing activities and timelines.
- Interact with the leadership team to identify funding needs.
- Frequent and regular contact with accounting to ensure expenses are on track.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in volunteer coordinating preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in event planning and community outreach, preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in non-profit development preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Must have high level of computer use skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, social media platforms, and Neon (or comparable database) preferred.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service focus.
- Must have a high comfort level working with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Must have a professional, approachable manner.
- Must have ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work well under pressure.
- Must have strong organizational and planning skills.
- Considerable concentration.
- Moderate to constant interruptions.
- Moderate noise level.
- Moderate to considerable eye strain.
