GENERAL SUMMARY: The Center for Women in Transition assists women in the criminal justice system in making a successful transition to their families and communities through practicing and promoting restorative justice. The VISTA will build capacity across multiple departments, helping staff plan and execute events and communicate effectively with the community. This is a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Events:
- Assist the Development team, the Community Engagement Coordinator, volunteers, Board and Committee members, and other members of the CWIT team with planning and executing several key events throughout the year, including these potential events: in-person and virtual fundraising events, open houses of our facilities, a donor appreciation event, a volunteer appreciation event, a staff appreciation event, former client reunions, and monthly mentor and client gatherings.
- Play a key role in helping the Development team to strategize and transition CWIT’s events away from being transactional to relationship-based.
- Assist in building out functionality for online events, in light of unknown circumstances caused by the coronavirus.
- Communications and Marketing:
- Assist the Development team with executing and enhancing its communications strategy.
- Develop processes for receiving communications requests from other CWIT departments and partner organizations.
- Accurately segment CWIT audiences and develop effective communications for each unique audience.
- Develop social media posts and emails to the network that match CWIT’s tone and style.
- Showcase CWIT as a thought-leader in the field of reentry by launching a monthly blog and coordinating with staff, clients, volunteers, and community partners to write blog posts.
- Assist in tracking and analyzing communications metrics.
- Assist in coordinating the development of a comprehensive style and language guide to be used across the organization.
- Work closely with Development team and across multiple departments.
- Perform all tasks according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to a variety of work settings.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficient in: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the internet, and ability to learn other database systems.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Willing to be an AmeriCorps VISTA member.

- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to tolerate long periods of sitting

- Ability to lift, push or pull objects weighing 15 pounds
